human brain with particular emphasis on both normal and pathological cognitive processes. Located in the Experimental Medicine Building on NTUs main campus CoNiC is equipped with state-of-the-art neuroimaging and brain monitoring technologies. These include a Siemens Prisma 3T MRI scanner a Siemens 0T mock scanner an Elekta Triux MEG system as well as EEG fNIRS TMS and other neuroimaging modalities.
As a strategic shared research facility CoNiC places strong emphasis on service quality operational excellence and scientific integrity. With growing demand and increasing complexity in neuroimaging research it continues to play a key role in advancing both basic and clinical research.
We are seeking a Research Associate to support the execution of neuroimaging research activities at CoNiC. The successful candidate will assist in conducting neuroimaging experiments processing data and implementing analysis pipelines under the guidance of the Research Fellow and Centre Director/Assistant Director. This role also includes supporting users with data postprocessing contributing to protocol implementation and maintaining documentation and records for ongoing studies. The Research Associate will play a valuable role in advancing multidisciplinary research and ensuring the smooth operation of CoNiCs shared facility services. The role is based across both the Experimental Medicine Building (EMB) at NTUs main campus and the Clinical Sciences Building (CSB) at the Novena campus. Flexibility to work at either site depending on project and operational requirements is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design and execution of experiments using MRI and other neuroimaging modalities (MEG EEG fNIRS TMS tDCS) under the supervision of the Research Fellow and Centre Director/Assistant Director
Perform MRI postprocessing and support data analysis using neuroimaging software such as SPM CONN BrainVoyager EEGlab and NIRSlab
Apply programming skills in MATLAB Python PsychoPy or E-Prime to assist with stimulus presentation and data handling
Conduct statistical analysis using tools such as SPSS R or Python
Support the development and refinement of analysis pipelines and contribute to harmonising protocols across studies
Assist in the preparation submission and maintenance of ethics documents for Institutional Review Board approval
Support participant recruitment coordination and scheduling in accordance with study protocols
Assist in training staff and students in standard procedures for neuroimaging data collection and analysis
Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures datasets and analysis workflows
Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals
Contribute to CoNiCs mission by supporting methodological improvements and facilitating collaborative research activities
Working hand-in-hand with the Assistant Director support day-to-day operations of the centre including software and system updates relevant to imaging workflows
Undertake any other duties assigned by the Research Fellow Centre Director or Assistant Director
Job Requirements:
Masters degree in Cognitive Neuroscience Biomedical Engineering Computer Science Life Sciences Psychology or a related field
Hands-on experience in neuroimaging research is preferred particularly in MRI data postprocessing and analysis
Familiarity with other modalities such as MEG EEG TMS and fNIRS is an added advantage
Proficiency in programming tools such as MATLAB and Python is essential
Experience using neuroimaging software such as SPM CONN BrainVoyager EEGlab or NIRSlab
Working knowledge of experiment design and stimulus presentation software such as PsychoPy or E-Prime
Ability to perform basic statistical analyses using tools such as SPSS R or Python
Good organisational skills and attention to detail in managing datasets and documenting analysis workflows
Strong interpersonal and communication skills able to collaborate with team members and support users
Willingness to learn new imaging techniques software tools and protocols
Ability to follow standard operating procedures and work effectively under the supervision of the Research Fellow and Centre Director or Assistant Director
Willingness to work across both NTUs main campus (EMB) and the Novena campus (CSB) depending on project requirements
