Job Summary:
The Power System Coordinator is responsible for the real-time monitoring operation and control of the Bulk Power Transmission system. This role requires the ability to analyze and evaluate the system determine restoration actions and implement those actions under both normal and abnormal system conditions. The coordinator must maintain current knowledge and implementation of all NERC compliance standards.
Location: Gulfport Mississippi United States
Responsibilities:
- Minute-to-minute monitoring and control of the bulk electric power system under normal system conditions.
- Analysis and evaluation of the system determination of restoration actions and implementation of those actions under abnormal system conditions.
- Remain current in understanding and implementation of all NERC compliance standards.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Certification by the North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) as a Transmission Operator or Reliability Coordinator.
- Thorough knowledge of interconnected power systems operations.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Comprehensive computer skills.
- Superior problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under time constraints.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Extensive knowledge and/or experience in transmission system operations and characteristics.
- Extensive knowledge and/or experience in substation equipment and their operating characteristics.
- General knowledge and/or experience in generation control system protection and system control.
Special Considerations:
- Must sign and adhere to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Standard of Conduct.
Scheduling:
- Requires shift work on a rotational basis working 12-hour shifts including days nights and weekends.
