Job Description

Job Title: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
Location: Rosebud IHS Hospital Rosebud South Dakota
Duration: 12-month contract (with option for extensions)
Schedule: 40 hours per week Monday Friday (8:00 AM 4:30 PM) with potential on-call or extended hours

Qualifications:
  • Education: Masters degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Certification: Active national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (AANP or ANCC).
  • Licensure: Valid unrestricted RN and NP license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year full-time experience as an FNP (within the last 3 years) in a primary care setting.
  • Certifications Required:
    • (BLS)
    • (ACLS)
    • (PALS)
    • (NRP) preferred
  • Other: U.S. Citizenship and ability to pass federal background check.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outpatient and inpatient primary care across the lifespan (pediatrics adult and geriatric populations).
  • Conduct patient assessments including history physical exams diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Order interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests and laboratory results.
  • Prescribe medications treatments and preventive care measures in accordance with IHS and federal guidelines.
  • Manage chronic and acute illnesses ensuring continuity of care.
  • Educate patients and families on health promotion disease prevention and treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with physicians nurses and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Participate in quality assurance peer review and performance improvement activities.
  • Provide coverage in urgent care or emergency situations as needed.
