JOB SUMMARY
The role of the Production Supervisor is responsible for the overall performance of the plant manufacturing operations overseeing the activities of the staff support personnel and hourly workers while ensuring that the products meet all quality standards cost targets and customer required lead times. This individual is responsible for initiating and/or implementing programs involving new product introductions quality improvements cost reductions and operational changes.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans and implements production sequences to meet production goals.
Evaluates performance of individual employees based on goals for productivity and quality.
Develops and implements standard operating procedures to promote efficiency and quality production.
Coordinates preventative machine maintenance to minimize production down time.
Supervises and trains employees on safety quality and productivity.
Ensures Compliance with established plant policies and procedures.
First level supervision or project lead. Responsible for a team performing one function ( i.e. customer service bindery) for a project. Leads assigns and monitors work for that team.
Implements production schedules by coordinating machine and personnel assignments.
Communicates with other department managers and supervisors regarding production schedules and requirements to ensure product quality and resource efficiency.
May mentor or coach staff or lower level supervisors.
Monitors and adjusts press schedule to maintain efficient production.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
Performs other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum required experience is 5-7 years relevant experience management capacity
High School diploma or equivalent; Some College preferred. May include specialized classes beyond high school. Must be computer literate.
Preferred Skills
Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment is essential.
Can conform to shifting priorities demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals technical procedures and numerical data. Ability to write simple records and general business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management customers and employees.
Required understanding of overall printing production process and working knowledge of the press and/or bindery functions.
Strong working knowledge f office equipment and software as well as standard graphic arts software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regular exposure to manufacturing environment with one or more unpleasant or hazardous conditions including but not limited to exposure to dust dirt high noise levels chemicals etc.. More than 50% of work time. Warehouse and plant with exposure to dust noise and fumes. Walking and standing 100% on concrete flooring.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard mouse and other devices and objects
Ability to stand walk grasp and reach. Occasionally required to climb lift up to 50 lbs 100 lbs with assistance carry and sit for prolonged periods of time.
Overtime may be required in meet project deadlines.
Physically able to participate in training sessions presentations and meetings.
Travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients stakeholders or off-site personnel/management
