Job Description:

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency that focuses on issues critical to the regions success including growth and development transportation water resources services for older adults and workforce solutions. ARC is dedicated to unifying the regions collective resources to prepare the metropolitan area for a prosperous future. This is done through professional planning initiatives the provision of objective information and the involvement of the community in collaborative partnerships.The ARC Community Development Department is seeking part-time temporary support for the Community Engagement and Culture initiative within the Community Development Department.The ideal candidate for this position will possess strong skills in program and events support coordination and documentation; graphic communication of programs to different audiences; writing and proofreading content; and research and analysis of inclusive and culture-led community engagement programs policies and processes.To be successful candidates should have solid time management skills ability to work independently and possess a desire to learn overcome challenges and solve problems.
This temporary position is not eligible for benefits; working up to 29 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist with the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Supports all programs under the Community Engagement and Culture imitative with preparation and documentation including Community-Centered Design and Community Forums.
  • Supports cultural events activities and programs that center the values and priorities of community members;
  • Supports community meetings forums and events related to cultural vibrancy;
  • Conducts creative research and analysis to identify community needs opportunities and challenges related to cultural vibrancy;
  • Supports initiatives that showcase cultural connection and foster community engagement through compelling storytelling;
  • Supports production of presentations to community members partner organizations and internal stakeholders related to cultural vibrancy;
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support agency goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelors degree in the arts urban or regional planning economics architecture landscape architecture or related field.

OR


  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of one semester of graduate work in the arts urban or regional planning economics architecture landscape architecture or related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Required Knowledge Skills Abilities and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of arts and culture community engagement community development;
  • Knowledge of cultural programming and social equity best practices and strategies;
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite and familiarity with CANVA;
  • Ability to communicate and present information effectively both verbally and in writing to a broad variety of audiences;
  • Ability to work as a part of a team and complete tasks to deadline with general instructions;
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and populations;
  • Ability to provide a high level of attention to detail;
  • Ability to utilize communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers supervisors the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction;
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to manage budgets timelines and reporting requirements;
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills including the ability to facilitate meetings events and forums;
  • Strong proofreading skills
  • Proficient with computer and relevant software applications
