Department Summary
The Department of Financial Services oversees the financial operations of Gwinnett County in compliance with state and federal Laws ensuring fiscal responsibility and superior bond ratings. Department functions include but are not limited to: investment management vendor and employee payment debt issuance and monitoring management self-insurance and liability programs management procurement and contracts operations management tax assessor administration and strategic program design and deployment.
Division Description
The Tax Assessors Office utilizes industry best practices to see that each property in the county is appraised fairly and equitably by providing each Gwinnett County citizen the highest quality customer service in a friendly and efficient manner.
Job Description
The Appraiser Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and performance of a team of appraisers as well as the overall evaluation process for the assigned team. This position is also responsible for the ongoing analysis and development of appraisal processes and systems. The Appraiser Supervisor is also responsible for establishing values and presenting information to individuals or groups such as the Board of Assessors and the Board of Equalization.
Essential Duties- Responsible for the training and supervision of a staff of up to 6 appraisers
- Conducts performance evaluations
- Ensures employees are compliant with policies and procedures
- Oversees and evaluates the accuracy of completed staff tasks
- Prepares written reports and monitors sales ratios for updates
- Represents the Board of Assessors at the Board of Equalization and Superior Court
- Assists taxpayers coworkers and other staff in resolving property valuation issues
- Conducts pre-Superior court settlement conferences
- Assists manager with annual budget
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment
Grade
The grade for this position is C43(2). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023 this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have been an Appraiser IV for at least two years
- Must possess an Appraiser IV level certification from the State of Georgia Department of Revenue as defined by the current rules and regulations of the State of Georgia
- Valid Drivers License in state of residency and
- Must be 21 years of age or older
