Metro Transit is one of the countrys largest transit systems employs more than 3000 people and provides more than 80 million rides a year through an integrated network of buses light rail and commuter trains as well as resources for those who carpool vanpool walk or bike in the Twin Cities.
How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region:
Metro Transits Bus Maintenance Division is responsible for providing safe clean and reliable buses to meet peak system requirements of approximately 800 addition to maintaining the bus fleet the division is responsible for the upkeep of all support vehicles including pool cars supervisor vehicles tow trucks and vehicles for the Facilities Department and Rail Operations. The team also maintains a wide range of equipment such as powered sweepers scrubbers forklifts and small engines.
Education/Experience
The following combination of experience (in automotive engineering or closely related field) and completed education (degree field of study in automotive engineering or closely related field):
What your work environment will be:
Work is primarily performed in a standard office work environment however there will be some travel from primary work site to other sites and to construction sites. At times incumbent in this position will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions near moving parts and equipment fumes and airborne particles and electrical items.
