Job Description

SARC Clinical Advisor

Base Location: Fully Remote - Regional

This role predominantly covers both paediatric and adult services.

Salary: 95223 (pro rata)

Hours: 4 hours per week

Rota :Flexible with some reasonable availability Monday -Friday 9-5

Mountain Healthcare Ltd provides services commissioned by the Police and NHS Health & Justice Commissioners to provide an effective forensic healthcare SMA will work with Associate Medical Directors Clinical Directors for Custody / SARC Directors of Nursing Associate Head of Healthcare safeguarding team SARC Managers and pediatric teams to deliver a high-quality service nationally and develop expertise in complex case management.

In addition the role can include working across the organization in SARCs (area and knowledge dependent)This role is primarily home based and does not involve face-to-face clinical duties. However it may be combined with roles that involve face to face clinical duties within this or other external organizations.

GMC Registration is required. Note that we cannot support International Visas. Police vetting requires 3 years residence in the UK.



Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • The SMA will act as clinical mentor for other doctors in the company who are at various levels of experience.
  • The SMA may deputize for the Medical Director Associate Medical Director or Clinical Directors as appropriate where they are unavailable.
  • The post holder will work to acquire the knowledge required to perform this role and will liaise with all appropriate outside agencies (including but not limited to local councils police health providers social care departments) as necessary
  • The post holder will complete level 3 safeguarding course and be able to undertake and maintain up to date incident investigative analysis desk top reviews and contribute to SARC medical reports.
  • The post holder will work as part of the wider safeguarding team and will lead on the development of medical pathways.
  • Forensic examinations and obtaining forensic exhibits.
  • Develop Forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
  • Actively working in partnership with external MDTs and Police.
  • Point of contact for Police and Social Services to discuss referral pathways.
  • Undertaking holistic assessments including sexual health mental health and safeguarding.
  • Supporting the continued quality improvement of the service.
  • Working under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
  • Obtaining consent for Health and Forensic procedures

Travel for training days will also be a requirement of this role. Hotel and subsistence will be reimbursed in line with the Expenses Policy



Essential Skills Required:

  • Medical Degree & Completion of Foundation Training
  • UK full residency for minimum 3 years are required for police background checks
  • Licentiate Membership or Fellowship of the FFLM
  • Minimum 5 years experience at L/M/F FFLM level within Sexual Offence Medicine
  • Chairing SOM Peer review sessions
  • Experience with writing and reviewing SARC Child protection report & mentoring the development of SOM trainees


Desired

  • Experience within academic research in sexual offence medicine (SOM)
  • Experience as a Court appointed expert in SOM
  • Experience chairing safeguarding supervision or similar clinical support groups.
