Job Description

Life Saving Victoria is Victorias peak water safety and lifesaving organisation built on the proud traditions and programs of our founding organisations the Royal Life Saving Society Australia and Surf Life Saving Australia.

Lifesaving has been an integral part of the Victorian way of life since 1904. Today LSV is a multifaceted volunteer-based community organisation with a focus on public safety and community wellbeing

Our volunteers members employees and partners work together with communities educational institutions government agencies businesses and the broader aquatic industry to Save lives and empower communities to safely enjoy water.

Pool Safety Assessor

We have an exciting opportunity to join our aquatic industry services team and be an active contributor to our pool safety assessment activities.

This casual position is responsible for conducting pool safety assessments desktop assessments and mystery guest visits to aquatic facilities. The role requires knowledge of aquatic facility operations water safety and auditing standards with a strong focus on client engagement and professional consultancy.

Reporting into the Lead Coordinator Aquatic Industry Services tasks include:

  • Delivering high-quality Pool Safety Assessments for public and private facilities.
  • Conducting design audits of proposed aquatic facilities.
  • Providing expert advice on aquatic supervision safety and operations to key stakeholders through mystery guest visits.
  • Preparing and submit consultancy reports within agreed timeframes.
  • Representing LSV professionally strengthening relationships across the Victorian aquatic industry.

Who are you

You may be an experienced auditor with a background in compliance quality systems or risk management looking to apply your skills in the aquatic industry.

Or you may be an aquatic industry professional with experience leading facilities and teams ready to extend your expertise into auditing consultancy and industry safety standards.

Either way you are a confident communicator who can engage with clients and stakeholders produce high-quality evidence-based reports and represent LSV with professionalism. A willingness to learn adapt and build on your existing skills will be the basis of your success in this role.

Essential skills and qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated experience either in aquatic facility management/operations or in compliance auditing or risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of aquatic facility operations and safety practices or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear evidence-based reports.
  • Commitment to professional standards safety and client engagement.
  • Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • A valid drivers licence and access to a vehicle for travel across Victoria.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Initiate lead and report on a Quality Audit qualification (or similar).
  • Certification in Health and Safety and/or Quality Management.
  • Knowledge of aquatic industry legislation codes of practice and guidelines.
  • Experience in statutory interpretation compliance or auditing.
  • Familiarity with safety quality or environmental management systems and standards (e.g. ISO31000 ISO45001 ISO9001 ISO14001).
  • Knowledge of water safety lifesaving and the work of Life Saving Victoria Surf Life Saving Australia or the Royal Life Saving Society Australia.
