Job Description

FAMILY RESOURCECENTER COORDINATOR -Ohio County High School

JOB CLASS #7493 7.5 HOURS/240 DAYS

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelors Degree in social work education or other human services field required.

2. Broad knowledge of public and private human services and resources.

3. Knowledge of child development and family interactions.

4. Ability to communicate effectively and to develop rapport with children youth parents school staff

community agency staff business and community leaders.

5. Experience in working with low income families and children.

6. Willingness to work irregular hours when necessary.

7. Must provide own transportation.

8. Knowledge of the geographic area.

9. Has met the requirements of a criminal records check as specified by Kentucky State Law.

10. Has met health requirements as specified in district personnel policy.

11. Knowledge of confidentiality laws.

REPORTS TO:

Principal

JOB GOAL:

Through the Family Resource/Youth Services Center Program (FRYSC) to act as a representative between the

school adult students families and community resource agencies in order to help adult students resolve those

academic personal emotional and social programs that interfere with their adjustment in life and their capacity

to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered them.

1.0 GENERAL KNOWLEDGE BASE

Knowledge Of:

1.1 Provision of liaison services between the parents students and the community.

1.2 Specific program to which assigned.

1.3 Record-keeping techniques.

1.4 Operation of a computer terminal and data entry techniques.

1.5 Oral and written communication skills.

1.6 Research methods and report writing techniques.

1.7 Laws rules and regulations related to assigned activities.

1.8 Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.

1.9 Interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy.

1.10 Technical aspects of field of specialty.

1.11 Confidentiality issues.

2.0 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Ability To:

2.1 Coordinate assigned activities to resolve student issues or develop community programs.

2.2 Travel to student homes and interact with parents.

2.3 Assist with responsible duties for a specific program.

2.4 Understand and follow oral and written directions.

2.5 Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

2.6 Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

2.7 Maintain records and prepare reports.

2.8 Operate a computer terminal.

2.9 Prioritize and schedule work.

2.10 Learn apply and explain policies procedures rules and regulations.

2.11 Maintain current knowledge of program rules regulations requirements and restrictions.

2.12 Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines.

2.13 Work independently with little direction.

2.14 Meet schedules and time lines.

2.15 Maintain confidentiality.

3.0 PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1 Promotes the establishment of positive working relationships with various community agencies and

coordinates the development of referral and when feasible services agreements with these resources.

3.2 Consults and collaborates with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on adult

students.

3.3 Acts as a representative to community resource agencies.

3.4 Assists in the planning developing implementing and evaluation of programs and services to meet the

needs of students who have special problems.

3.5 Develops and implements a procedure of an on-going needs assessment.

3.6 Assists in the development coordination training and supervision of staff. This would include both

paid and volunteer workers.

3.7 Assists in the evaluation and monitoring of all program components including goals objectives tasks

and timeliness from the work plan.

3.8 Assures compliance with all Board of Education local and state reporting requirements and evaluation

systems.

3.9 Promotes and facilitates the delivery of direct services.

3.10 Seeks additional funding for the FR/YSC Program.

3.11 Assumes responsibility for disseminating information in regard to the Center.

3.12 Makes home visits as necessary to promote the goals of the FR/YSC program.

3.13 Promotes the development of additional or supplemental community resources.

3.14 Assumes responsibility for disseminating information in regard to the Center.

3.15 Maintains current knowledge of the FR/YSC programs rules regulations requirements and restrictions.

3.16 Develops and participates in outreach strategies for the delivery of services.

3.17 Serves on and works collaboratively with the Centers Advisory Council and the local Multi-agency

Council.

3.18 Maintains and provides for the Centers Resource/Lending Library materials.

3.19 Organizes and supervises the maintenance of an accurate system of record keeping. Keeps complete

up-to-date and accurate records as required by law policy and administrative regulations.

3.20 Prepares and maintains an inventory of services offered by community health and welfare agencies.

3.21 Presents a positive image of the program to the community and conveys to them the programs genuine

concern with the education growth and development of each child.

3.22 Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
