Assist in supervising the daily operations and student personnel of the Universitys Student Center while overseeing various events and activities.
Essential Functions:
30% Supervise student managers and student employees in the Operations area and Gameroom.
20% Participate in the department student employment program to help develop mentor and retain student employees.
20% Serve as a customer liaison to building tenants conferencing and events and special event facility needs. Communicate with clients/customers regarding facility needs and to manage facilities set-up.
10% Oversee building storage safety security and deliveries.
10% Develop budget recommendations and prepare budget requests and written narratives.
10% Assist the Associate Director with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
Requires a relevant Bachelors Degree.
Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:
None.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of 2 years experience in student union/center operations or related business. An articulate understanding of the mission culture climate and environment of a metropolitan university required. Must have ability to work effectively and efficiently with staff students and clients required. Proven experience with creatively enhancing customer events and coordinating logistics required. Strong customer service orientation organization and attention to detail required. Ability to troubleshoot audio visual and technology equipment required. Strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrative leadership ability required. Computer literacy required.
Leadership:
Responsible for directing and monitoring the work of student and/or temporary workers.
Physical Requirements:
Light physical effort required involving stooping and bending; individual has limited discretion about walking standing etc.; occasionally lifting of lightweight objects (up to 25 lbs.).
Working Conditions:
No major sources of working conditions discomfort standard working environment with possible minor inconveniences due to
occasional noise crowded working conditions minor heating/cooling or ventilation problems and/or up to 40% use of PC terminal.
