Job Description

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree diploma or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being this case the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

  • Remain in valid Visa status as applicable.

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

  • In good disciplinary standing.

  • Must be located in the U.S.

For complete program details please go to our website: Assistive Music Technology Lab is hiring someone to work as a lab assistant to maintain the lab and help students with visual impairment starting in September 2025. There may be an option for the right candidate to continue working in the lab beyond Fall 2025 based on performance evaluations and continued funding availability.

The responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assist students with their projects and assignments
  • Provide software/hardware training for students
  • Provide maintenance and troubleshooting for workstations and equipment
  • Manage the lab and students with a goal of facilitating a friendly work environment for everyone
  • Other assigned duties

This position requires the following skills:

  • Working knowledge of English Braille and Braille Music
  • Assistive Technology Skills: Voiceover Jaws Goodfeel
  • Music software skills: Sibelius Pro Tools
  • General computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Knowledge of Berklee core music curriculum content
  • Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Focuses on solving conflict; Manages difficult or emotional situations; Maintains confidentiality; Remains open to others ideas and tries new things.
  • Oral Communication: Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Demonstrates group presentation skills; Participates in meetings.
  • Written Communication: Writes clearly and informatively; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
