BASIC FUNCTION
Support research by exploring funding opportunities assisting in grant proposal preparation submission post-award administration and operational support by assuring compliance with UI policies state and federal laws. Key areas of responsibility include grant preparation (pre-award) post-award administration regulatory compliance operational/administrative support external communications and negotiations leadership and supervision.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Grant Exploration and Development:
- Prepare navigate and administer grants and contracts. (Including NIH grants and clinical trials)
- Prepare research/grant proposals; evaluate requests for proposals (RFP); review proposals.
- Support multiple research studies.
Post-Award Administration/Financial Responsibility:
- Independently prepare and submit financial and material reports and schedules for individual faculty the Grant Accounting Office of the University and various granting agencies.
- Monitor budgets establish fiscal controls prepare fund allocations to comply with internal and sponsor deadlines. Prepare financial summary reports monthly.
- Analyze monitor and report financial data information and reports. databases Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel.
- May initiate and/or approve routine financial transactions.
Compliance:
- Monitor expenditures for compliance with contract/grant terms in accordance with agency spending policies University policies and state and federal regulations.
- Perform specialized queries of expenditures not passing through workflow then review for allowability based on various funding agency spending requirements.
Operational/Administrative Support:
- May perform other administrative support tasks in support of the research (e.g. organize and facilitate meetings/events respond to inquiries recruit research participants monitor research protocols data collections analysis and management; local site coordinator; maintain website content etc.)
External Communication and Negotiations:
- Liaison with external funding agencies related to supporting the research.
Leadership/Supervision:
- May provide functional supervision and/or administrative supervision of student staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelors degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- 1 year of experience working with externally funded grants is required.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel is required.
- Experience with NIH grant policy is desirable.
- Experience with the CAYUSE proposal submission system is desirable.
- Experience with NIH eRA Commons as a delegate is desirable.
