Pay: $1200 - $1500 stipend depending on education and experience

Schedule: Practices (Tues - Thurs 3:30 4:45 p.m.) Games (Varies M-F 3:30 4:30 p.m.)

Job Summary:

The Middle School Girls Assistant Volleyball Coach is responsible for leading practices and coaching games during the fall sports season. This role supports the athletic and personal development of student-athletes by promoting teamwork skill-building and sportsmanship in a positive and inclusive environment. The coach collaborates closely with the Athletics and After-School department to align with school values and ensure a safe engaging experience for all participants.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Supports Middle School Girls Head Volleyball Coach with volleyball practices three times per week.
• Attends all scheduled games including travel to away games while positively representing St. Thomas School.
• Promotes sportsmanship teamwork and individual skill development.
• Teaches age-appropriate soccer fundamentals techniques and strategies.
• Partners with the Director of Athletics and After-School Programs to support program goals and team culture.
• Ensures the safety supervision and well-being of all student-athletes.
• Supports player growth aligned with program expectations and core competencies.
• Communicates clearly with players families and the school community about schedules expectations and team progress.
• Helps with equipment and field set up/ cleanup for practices and games.
• Actively engages in the life of the school and contributes to community-wide events and programs.
• Upholds and models the mission values and strategic priorities of STS.
• Demonstrates respect for diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
• Collaborates across departments and participates in team meetings to support a cohesive pre-K through eighth grade experience.
• Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.
• Adheres to school policies and procedures and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and After-School Programs.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in education coaching or a related field preferred.
• 1 years of experience coaching soccer preferably with middle schoolage students.
• Knowledge of youth athletic development including age-appropriate skill building and sportsmanship.
• Demonstrated ability to create a positive inclusive and supportive team environment.
• Ability to actively supervise student-athletes both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the role including lifting up to 50 pounds and engaging in activities such as bending crouching or sitting on the ground.
• Readiness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification and maintain throughout employment
• Successful completion of required background checks in accordance with school policy and state regulations.
• Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative flexible and growth-oriented mindset.
• Proficiency with basic technology tools and a willingness to learn school-specific systems.
• Commitment to the mission values and community of STS.
