Job Description

DEFINITION OF POSITION: The lunchroom paraeducator will maintain a safe appropriate lunchroom atmosphere assisting students when conflict resolution is necessary.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Building Principal

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completed at least 2 years of study (72 quarter credits/48 semester credits) at an institution of higher education or possess an associates (or higher) degree or completed one of the following: ETS ParaPro Assessment with a score of 455 or higher Pearson Paraprofessional assessment or Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program
  • Successful experience working with middle school students

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Training and/or experience in conflict resolution/peer mediation
  • Behavior management training
  • Evidence of in-service training and/or successful experience working with students with special needs
  • Commitment to the safety of students

ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED ACTIVITIES:

  • Supervise some or all of the student population during scheduled lunch periods
  • Implement individual behavior plans discipline appropriately and communicate with principals and teachers
  • Anticipate potential problems and plan accordingly
  • Ensure the safety of students as they utilize the lunchroom and surrounding areas
  • Take directions and follow through without direct supervision
  • Work positively with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization
  • Work with colleagues in a collaborative manner
  • Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Deal with the public other agencies and district employees in a positive and productive manner
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing
  • Work with minimal supervision and be flexible

TERMS OF THE CONTRACT:

  • Salary: Classified Paraeducator $21.65 - $26.32/hour
  • Length of Contract: 2 hours/day (11:15 a.m. 1:15 p.m.) 180 days/year plus two additional district directed days
  • Benefits/Leaves: Medical dental vision life and long-term disability coverage is provided through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year. Retirement benefits are provided through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Additional benefits may include sick/emergency leave and personal leave as per the collective bargaining agreement between the Pullman Paraeducators Association (PPA) and the Pullman School District (PPA Bargaining Agreement).
