Job Description
Role: EMC Design Engineer
Location: Austin TX/ Sunnyvale CA
Salary Range: $100000 to 120000/Annual & for Vendors: $65-70/hr CTC
Objective / Project Overview:
The team will be responsible for assisting project DRIs in the EMC Design Engineering team with reviews of mechanical CAD electrical layouts and schematics and EMC data. Additionally they will generate test plans and data reports support root cause analysis brainstorm mitigations and oversee testing in collaboration with test engineers.
Required Skills:
- BS in EE with minimum 3 years of practical industry experience performing the following tasks
- Reviewing mechanical designs of enclosures connectors and cables for EMC compliance
- Reviewing printed circuit board (PCB) schematics and layouts for emissions and immunity control
- Preparing EMC test plans overseeing EMC validation and compiling reports on consumer electronics medical equipment or automotive systems
- Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical sources of EMC failures and identifying solutions
- Familiarity with lab equipment such as ESD guns surge testers receivers oscilloscopes SAs VNAs cables amplifiers LISNs and CDNs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with experience generating technical reports
- Experience reworking electrical components as small as 01005 is preferred
- Experience with electromagnetic modeling and simulation tools such as CST HFSS ADS and PowerSI is preferred
- Experience with Matlab and scripting for test automation and data analysis is preferred
