Job Description
The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides safe high-quality patient care before during and after surgical procedures. This role is ideal for nurses with OR experience who want to join a supportive patient-focused surgical team.
Responsibilities:- Prepare and maintain a sterile operating room environment
- Assess patients pre-op and ensure safety throughout procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations and anticipate their needs
- Document nursing care and patient responses accurately
- Follow infection control and aseptic techniques
- Collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams
- Respond to intraoperative emergencies
- Ensure proper equipment use and maintenance
- Support smooth patient transition to recovery room
- Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current New Mexico RN license or Compact State RN license (required)
- BLS Certification (required within 2 weeks of hire)
- Additional certifications as required by the department to be obtained within 6 months of hire. If held at the time of hire certifications must be maintained.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience is required.
