Job Description

Ongoing employees affected by change management plans will be given priority consideration for at grade positions

  • Temporary Part-Time until 30 June 2026
  • 7 hours per week increasing to 3 days per week in October 2025
  • Location: Orange or Dubbo
  • Professional Officer Grade 1/4 salary ranging from $75728 - $145442
  • This opportunity is open to DPIRD/LLS staff only

The salary offered to the successful candidate will be commensurate with qualifications skills and experience as outlined in the Crown Employees (Department of Regional NSW) Professional Officers Award and the Professional Officer Progression Criteria (1-4).

About the Role

In this crucial position you will play a pivotal role in reducing the adverse economic environmental and social impacts of invasive plants in NSW. Your efforts will focus on leading and developing programs for state priority weeds preventing the establishment of new species and facilitating the eradication and containment of established species.

What Youll be doing:

  • Lead and coordinate the development of programs with key stakeholders to eradicate and contain state priority weeds.
  • Identify pathways and sites to prevent the establishment of new weed species in NSW.
  • Engage with Regional Weed Committees and key stakeholders for effective management of state priority weeds.
  • Oversee and assess Weeds Action Program projects and manage the Weeds Information Database.
  • Provide timely accurate technical and policy advice to management.
  • Contribute to policy planning and operational matters to prioritise resources on the highest priority weed issues.
  • Assist in raising awareness of state priority weed species and best practice management through extension materials.

Essential requirements

  • Degree qualification in Science Agricultural Science Natural Resources or a related field
  • Current NSW Driver License and the ability and willingness to travel
