About the Role
The Operational Safety Advisor supports the Head of Safety & Wellbeing in contributing to the development and delivery of a contemporary Health Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) program that supports the business and operational priorities.
The role operates within a team that provides advice and support across KFC Taco Bell and the Restaurant Support Centre
As the Senior Advisor Operational Safety you will take ownership of the following key duties and responsibilities
Leadership
- Lead and support local consultative arrangements including Store Safety Captains Area Safety Leaders and Market Safety representatives and their respective meetings
- Coach Leaders including Restaurant General Managers to ensure safety and wellbeing risks are effectively managed
Organisation
- Assist with the development of Executive and Board reports and submissions on a broad range of safety and wellbeing areas to meet the needs of diverse stakeholders
- Project manage and contribute to the development of safety initiatives safety reviews audits and other relevant programs of works and provide periodic status reports
- Undertake investigations of serious and/or complex safety and wellbeing incidents including the identification of causal factors event learnings and recommendations supported by the facilitation of appropriate reports to the relevant stakeholders
Risk
- Provide advice and support for the management of safety and wellbeing within the context of WHS legislation and the Collins SMS
- Undertake audits and inspections of restaurants to support compliance with legislation and approved policy / guidelines and risk profiles
- Provide support in the development and management of risk assessments including physical and psychosocial hazards to identify critical risks risk controls and mitigation strategies
- Assist with the analysis of safety and wellbeing data to establish risk profiles and prioritise areas of focus for intervention strategies in consultation with operations and where necessary establishing and monitoring corrective actions
Results
- Follow up provide support direction and advice on safety and wellbeing reported incidents including liaising with all parties involved in the incident management process
- Develop audit and inspection templates lead audits and inspections and write reports with recommendations for change through continuous improvement action plans
- Support the development of periodic safety and wellbeing reports through verification of data and ongoing monitoring of the reliability and validity of safety and wellbeing data
About You
As the Operational Safety Advisor you will bring to the role the following skills experience and attributes
- Proven knowledge of WHS legislation Australian and International Standards and risk assessment methodologies
- 3 5 years experience in a health and safety advisory role or leadership role that manages the health and safety or a team
- Experience conducting work health and safety audits and inspections
- Ability to coach workers and leaders in how to successfully manage work health and safety.
- Cert IV in WHS (desirable)
- Experience with internet management systems like Done Safe (desirable)
