This course explores the dynamic body of legal scholarship known as Critical Race Theory. It involves an analysis of the concept of race and how it is constructed in Western law and society examination of how power and privilege are commonly based on race and how they interact with other aspects of a persons identity. The course will also involve a critical analysis of the notion that law is objective technical and apolitical as well as critique of the role of the law in creating and reenforcing inequity.Posting limited to:

The Common Law Section is seeking candidates who are leaders in the legal profession. An LL.B. J.D. or equivalent is for this position. Membership in the Law Society of Ontario (or equivalent) in good standing is an asset. The successful candidate will have significant experience in the area of critical approaches to law. Prior teaching experience will be considered an asset.
The Common Law Section reserves the right to select a candidate who does not fully meet each of these requirements where the candidates selection would be beneficial to the program the course the students or for a related reason.

This course is offered during the January intensive session and not in the winter session. Candidates must be able to teach each day of the January term -- please be sure to check the schedule on the Common Law Section website.An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
