Job Description

This permanent full-time position will assist the Head of the English Faculty in reviewing and developing the academic curriculum for English Additional Language (EAL) learners to reflect an engaging and innovative pedagogical approach. This role will also liaise with the Overseas Student Manager relating to international student supports. This will involve responsibility for coordinating the development of targeted support for EAL Learners including assisting with new student orientation and transition meeting regularly with EAL and international students facilitating connections across all year levels cultivating strong connections with families and other stakeholders and organising cultural activities for students.

About the role:

TheTeacher (EAL) and Student Coordinator is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Assisting the Head of English Faculty in reviewing and developing the academic curriculum for EAL learners to reflect an engaging and innovative pedagogical approach. This will include the continuous updating of curriculum documentation

  • Teaching students competently in specified subject area(s) as required

  • Coordinating the development of targeted support for EAL learners

  • Meeting regularly and/or when required with their relevant Head of Faculty

  • Attending and participating in year-level team meetings to assist in the development of curriculum and assessment

  • Supporting and guiding students in the development of appropriate learning strategies as required

  • Working with the Overseas Student Manager relating to induction and pastoral support needs of EAL and international students.

About you:

The successful candidate for this role will be:

  • A registered Teacher with a tertiary qualification in teaching English as an Additional Language

  • Experienced inteaching VCE English as an Additional Language

  • Experienced and knowledgeable regarding academic learning programs for students with diverse abilities and needs

  • An excellent communicator with highly developed interpersonal skills

  • Organised and have competent administrative skills

  • Willing and able to participate fully in the Schools academic co-curricular spiritual and pastoral programs
