Responsibilities
The Water Reclamation Instrumentation Specialist supports the Water Reclamation Laboratory by providing technical oversight managing complex instrumentation and ensuring data quality and compliance. Key responsibilities include mentoring staff performing troubleshooting and maintenance of lab equipment and overseeing instrument service agreements. The specialist leads efforts in analytical testing quality assurance and method development particularly in advanced instrumentation such as ICP-MS GC/MS TOC AA FIA ICP and IC. The role also involves managing laboratory software databases and the LIMS system entering and analyzing data for process evaluations and regulatory reporting. The Water Reclamation Instrumentation Specialist plays a vital role in pollution analysis across wastewater sludge groundwater and industrial waste and contributes to research and emerging technology assessments.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Chemistry Biology Environmental Science or related degree
AND 3 years of experience as a Water Reclamation Bacteriologist/Chemist or equivalent experience
WITH 1 year of experience on complex laboratory equipment; such as ICP-MS AAA ICP TOC FIA GC and GC/MS.
Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.
Certifications
Must obtain an Ohio EPA Wastewater Class I License within 2 years of appointment.
Must obtain an Ohio EPA Wastewater Class III License within 4 years of appointment and maintain certification thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
Must obtain OWEA (Ohio Water Environment Association) Wastewater Laboratory Analyst I certification within 2 years of appointment.
Must obtain OWEA (Ohio Water Environment Association) Wastewater Laboratory Analyst III certification within 4 years of appointment and maintain certification thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
License Requirements
Must possess a valid drivers license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

Background Check
A background investigation and evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity is required prior to employment. All candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position including current city employees seeking transfer promotion demotion etc. into a classified position.
Medical Examination & Drug and Nicotine Testing
Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination including drug screen. Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening. Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment. The Tobacco and Nicotine Free Hiring Policy does not apply to current City employees.
