Job Summary

As a Mechanical Design Engineer with the Nidec Aerospace team you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your expertise to design electric propulsion systems for the battery-powered aircrafts that will enable the world to sustainably and efficiently get from point A to point B.Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical or Aerospace Engineer to lead advanced analysis of electric motor systems. This role involves structural thermal vibration and fluid dynamics simulations using FEA and CFD tools with a strong emphasis on design optimization and validation. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and ensure product quality through expert analysis design feedback and technical leadership.
Responsibilities include:
Analysis of advanced electric motors and systems considering structural FEA NVH or CFD analysis tools
Provide feedback to the design team to address analysis concerns
Lead analysis reviews at component and assembly level to internal and external stakeholders
Specify required tolerances and critical-to-quality features for components and assemblies
Perform these and other duties and responsibilities through self-initiative leadership and collaboration to achieve new product development goals.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
BS Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
5 or more years related work experience in electric motors and drives or similar industry a plus but not required
Proficiency in CAD software required (Creo preferred)
Expertise in structural analysis for complex systems (structural modal thermal vibration) using hand calculations and FEA software (previous ANSYS use required) AND OR expertise in CFD analysis for air and liquid cooled solutions using ANSYS Fluent or Star CCM
Experience performing design optimization studies
Experience with topology optimization a plus
Previous experience instructing or performing physical testing to validate simulated analyses
Experience in bolted joint calculations a plus
Experience using materials common in the aerospace industry is a plus
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work with and learn from a cross functional team
Effective written and oral communication skills
Ability to handle competing demands and support multiple concurrent programs
