The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Business and Financial Services Division Fiscal Operations in Helena.
This position prepares claims for Medicare and Medicaid services provided at the department facilities and performs accounts receivable functions for amounts collectable from Medicare private insurance and Medicaid. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining patient accounts and reconciling accounts with ledgers utilizing extensive knowledge of complex medical billing requirements and federal and state statutes and laws.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity
Working knowledge of medical billing terminology and procedures.
Ability to analyze interpret and apply procedural rules regarding claims and statements.
Working knowledge of accounting methods and account receivable theory and practices.
Meet minimum qualifications:
High School diploma or GED.
Four years work experience in accounting billing and collecting in a medical field.
Experience with medical terminology and coding.
Experience with Medicaid and Medicare billing requirement.
Other medical licenses/certifications may be considered as additional experience.
Other combinations of directly related education/experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

This position may be eligible for partial teleworkwithin the state of conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.
This position may be eligible for a statutory $1.00 an hour base pay increase effective July 1 2026.
