Essential Functions
Essential functions are fundamental core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Listens to court proceedings through a headset as they are being recorded on a multi-channel digital or analog recording system to ensure that the testimony judicial officers decision and sentencing are accurately captured.
Manually or electronically logs information and events such as the date name of presiding judicial officer legal counsel case name and number opening statements witnesses names direct and cross examinations and summations as they are recorded so that events can be located for reference purposes.
Tests audio and ancillary equipment to ensure proper operation.
Sets up and breaks down audio recording and related equipment for recording office conferences and proceedings outside of the courtroom.
Assists staff in locating information such as case dispositions using log notes notations and recordings.
Restocks supplies such as CDs blank tapes and log sheets.
May provide Court with files records and similar information during court proceedings; and mark and preserve exhibits.
Uses automated information systems such as civil and criminal case management systems to enter update modify delete retrieve inquire or report on data.
Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Electronic Court Reporter I
Applicants must have education training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Six months experience in setting up and operating audio recording equipment.
Six months experience in applying laws rules regulations standards policies and procedures.
Six months experience in record keeping.
Conditions of Hire
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment in accordance with Title 29 Chapter 59 and Title 19 Chapter 13 and 16. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
