SUMMARY: Serve as a substitute game worker at athletic events by fulfilling various event support roles including ticket taker security and general game operations. This position helps ensure a safe organized and welcoming environment for all attendees by assisting with crowd control entry procedures and overall event management as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Substitute in various game worker roles at athletic events as needed including:
    • Ticket taker
    • Security support
    • General event operations
  • Assist with crowd control to ensure the safety of athletes spectators and staff.
  • Support entry and exit procedures including verifying tickets and managing gates.
  • Provide general assistance during athletic events to maintain an organized and welcoming environment.
  • Report safety concerns or disruptive behavior to event supervisors or administrators.
  • Follow all district site and event policies and procedures related to athletic event operations.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with staff students and the public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned related to the safe and effective operation of athletic events.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Basic event operations and crowd management principles.
  • Customer service practices and effective communication techniques.
  • Safety and emergency procedures for public events.
  • District policies and procedures related to school athletic events.
  • Proper ticketing protocols and gate operations.
  • Conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
  • Roles and responsibilities associated with athletic event staffing.
  • Appropriate professional conduct in a school and public setting.

SKILL IN:

  • Providing courteous and professional customer service to students families and the public.
  • Monitoring and managing crowds to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  • Communicating effectively and clearly in both verbal and written form.
  • Remaining calm and composed in high-traffic or emergency situations.
  • Collaborating and working as part of a team during athletic events.
  • Identifying and addressing potential safety or security concerns quickly.
  • Following detailed instructions and enforcing event protocols.
  • Operating ticketing or scanning equipment if applicable.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class require: stooping crouching reaching standing walking fingering grasping feeling talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor outdoor environment including exposure to loud noise and being on your feet
