Job Description

Graham Partners a Philadelphia area private investment firm seeks a Junior AI Applications Developer / Software Engineer to join Graham Partners Operating Company (GPOC). GPOC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Graham Partners LLC. that provides consulting services and coordinates other services provided by operations executives industry experts consultants and outside firms to the Graham Partners portfolio companies funds affiliates and other entities.

The Junior AI Applications Developer / Software Engineer will work with the Director of AI Strategy to support data and AI initiatives for our investment team operations team and various portfolio companies owned by the firm. The ideal candidate will possess strong foundational skills in full stack software development with a passion for leveraging GenAI tools. Additional skills with manipulating large datasets and developing classic machine learning models and tools are a bonus. This unique position offers an exceptional junior candidate a high degree of responsibility to build and deploy impactful real-world AI projects across many portfolio businesses while working in a high performing private equity environment.

The position is onsite at the Newtown Square PA location but flexible / remote work may be available some days each week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with data science and business colleagues while using your software engineering skills to develop practical AI tools apps and workflows that drive business value
  • Evaluate and leverage the latest GenAI tools on an ongoing basis and assist with educating the broader organization on how to use GenAI
  • Assist with maintaining data pipelines and business intelligence dashboards
  • Upskill in data engineering data science and financial literacy over time as needed

Required Qualifications (high agency attitude software development skills passion for using GenAI):

  • Most importantly exceptional integrity and honesty. Must be a positive team player with a very high-agency / can-do attitude. Self-starter who is comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects in a fast-paced environment including hacking together creative solutions and self-teaching new technical skills to achieve goals. Demonstrated passion for monitoring the latest GenAI developments and tinkering with the latest GenAI tools is a must
  • Bachelors degree in computer science or a related quantitative field
  • Primarily looking for recent graduates but will consider between 0 3 years of work experience
  • Highly proficient in Python as well as other common development languages
  • Strong core of full stack software developer skills with the ability to enhance the building of useful AI tools and workflows including comfort being able to call APIs. (specific skills that are not required but are highly desired include: web app or other interface development leveraging web scraping techniques building RPA / automation workflows)
  • Understanding and experience with OOP and system design
  • Understanding and experience with cloud tooling including the ability to deploy application
  • Strong demonstrated experience leveraging GenAI tools in school work and/or personal projects
  • Basic proficiency in SQL. (Additional proficiency with DBT is a plus)
  • Strong at communicating with business / non-technical stakeholders including strong data visualization and data storytelling skills. (Specific experience with business intelligence software like PowerBI Qlik or Tableau is a plus)

Preferred Qualifications (additional skills in data science and large-scale data engineering):

  • Experience working with large datasets data pipelines and an understanding of fundamental data warehousing techniques (Medallion architecture and dimensional modeling is a plus)
  • Advanced data science-focused Python skills including proficiency with Pandas Numpy Sklearn Matplotlib and PySpark. (Additional proficiency in DLT and Tensorflow/PyTorch is even more of a plus)
  • Experience training and deploying classical machine learning models. This includes data cleaning/wrangling feature engineering model training and optimization and model deployment (artifact storage/logging and online scoring)
  • Specific experience with Microsoft data stack tools including Azure Logic Apps DevOps Functions BLOB Copilot and PowerBI as well as specific experience with Databricks is helpful but not required
  • Familiarity with accounting and corporate finance data and use cases is plus but not required
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and industrial technology industry data and use cases is a plus but not required
