Join Us as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) Floater!
If youre adaptable dependable and ready for a role where no two days are the same this is your opportunity to make a real difference. As a DSP Floater at Community Options Inc. (COI) youll bring flexibility and heart to every shift-supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in living richer more meaningful and more independent lives.
Your workplace will be as dynamic as your role-ranging from COI facilities to supported employment sites to active engagement in the community. Everything we do is grounded in Person Centered Planning (PCP) and youll be part of both the planning and the action that transforms lives.
High school diploma or GED (preferred)
Valid Colorado drivers license and driving record acceptable to COIs insurance carrier
Clean criminal background check
Ability to pass Medication Administration and First Aid/CPR training within 90 days of hire
Prior related experience (preferred)
Youll step into different assignments based on agency needs serving in a variety of settings. Your support can range from a friendly reminder to full assistance depending on each persons abilities.
Service & Support
Follow each individuals Service Plan and adapt as needed throughout the year.
Assist with community integration habilitation supported employment residential care mentorship and transportation.
Teach and support social interaction skills-communication leisure activities self-care and more.
Provide hands-on help with daily living skills: dressing bathing cooking cleaning and menu planning.
Administer medications according to State of Colorado guidelines.
Monitor health and behavior changes reporting them per protocol.
Drive agency vehicles to take individuals to appointments work and community events.
Maintain a safe clean and supportive environment.
Documentation & Communication
Communicate with respect and professionalism in tone language and body language.
Complete accurate timely documentation for skill training progress notes personal care medication logs timesheets and incident reports.
Teamwork & Professionalism
Be on time attend mandatory trainings staff meetings and manager check-ins.
Work independently but know when to seek help.
Follow all policies procedures and professional conduct standards.
Take on other duties as needed-because teamwork makes the dream work!
This is an active role requiring time on your feet hands-on support and occasionally performing personal care tasks. Youll work with individuals who may be confused agitated or uncooperative-and youll meet each situation with patience and professionalism.
Safely lift/move up to 50 lbs alone or 100 lbs with assistance
Frequent walking bending reaching kneeling and occasional sitting
Strong vision hearing and verbal communication skills required
May be exposed to chemicals or infectious diseases (training provided on Universal Precautions)
