Job Description

JOB TITLE: High School English Language Development Teacher 1.0 FTE

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB SUMMARY:

To provide education services in English Language Development (ELD) to a variety of students in a classroom setting. The teacher is responsible for student academic achievement including instruction and maintaining student discipline. Full job description available upon request.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors Degree or higher.
  1. Hold or be eligible for Oregon Teaching Certification with secondary authorization and an English for Speakers of Other Languages endorsement.
  2. Ability to establish positive working relationships with students staff and parents through an equitable and trauma-informed lens.
  3. Willingness to develop and work with 6th-12th grade students in a newcomer program.
  4. Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in Spanish and English.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters degree.
  2. Willingness to work with extra-curricular activities.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Designs and implements appropriate instruction of ELD in accordance with students needs District curriculum and state standards.
  2. Conducts English Language Proficiency testing and progress monitoring.
  3. Utilizes a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student group involved.
  4. Uses data to inform instruction evaluate academic growth and monitor student progress on grade level standards. Maintain appropriate records.
  5. Provides language interpretation at meetings involving parents and school officials.
  6. Actively engage in curriculum and/or faculty committees as interested or required.
  7. Work collaboratively with other staff members to support student learning.
  8. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress of student.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190-Day Contract at 1.0 FTE. Based on current SEA salary schedule and negotiated agreement ($50073-$101649 annually) with excellent benefits including Medical Dental and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement. Paid time off includes one sick day per month worked and three personal days pro-rated per school year. Benefit information can be found at Open until filled. Starts Fall 2025.
