Job Summary: The Coordinator of Student Services is responsible for leading and managing the districts comprehensive school counseling programs to support the academic social emotional and college & career development of students through a multi-tiered multi-domain system of support (MTMDSS). This role serves as Corporation Test Coordinator (Additional Member) and involves coordination of support for Parent Liaisons School Counselors the District Social Worker and School Test Coordinators. The focus of the role is the development and implementation of district-wide student services initiatives ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and working collaboratively with the Director of College & Career Readiness district and building administrators teachers staff caregivers and community organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Supervise and evaluate school counselors and student services staff across the district by serving as a primary evaluator to all Student Services Directors and a secondary evaluator to all school counselors.
- Provide professional development opportunities and training for school counselors and student services staff to enhance their skills and effectiveness in cooperation with the Director of College & Career Readiness and Hatching Results.
- Develop and implement a district-wide vision and strategic plan that aligns with a comprehensive model for school counseling and related student services.
- Serve as Corporation Test Coordinator (Additional Member)
- Program Development and Implementation:
- Design and oversee a comprehensive counseling program that addresses the academic social emotional and college & career needs of students using MTMDSS.
- Works in partnership with Hatching Results for training implementation and support of the MTMDSS through a comprehensive counseling model that aligns with ASCA.
- Implement evidence-based practices by monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of school programs to ensure that programs align with district goals and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Oversee development and implementation of IMPACT and Xello for college and career planning and exploration in conjunction with the Director of College & Career Readiness.
- Policy and Compliance:
- Ensure that programs comply with state and federal laws district policies and ethical standards.
- Develop and review policies and procedures related to student services and advocate for necessary changes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and trends related to comprehensive counseling for students K-12 to maximize post-secondary outcomes.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the district and school administrators teachers caregivers and community organizations to support student success and well-being.
- Facilitate communication between student services programs and other district departments to maximize post-secondary outcomes of students.
- Serve as a liaison between the district and external agencies including mental health professionals college & industry partnerships and professional organizations.
- Develop a district advisory council that aligns and supports the comprehensive counseling model and engages community partners.
- Data Management and Reporting:
- Collect analyze and interpret data related to student outcomes master-scheduling program effectiveness and school counselor and student services staff performance in partnership with Mathematica and annual reporting to the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation under the College Matters: Reversing the Trend Grant.
- Prepare and present reports on program progress and achievements to the school board as well as district leadership and community stakeholders.
- Utilize data to inform decision-making and drive improvements in programming and services including Xello reporting to monitor core lesson completion.
- Crisis Intervention and Support:
- Provide guidance and support in crisis situations and collaborate with school staff and community resources to address students immediate needs.
- Develop and implement crisis intervention protocols and ensure that counselors are trained to handle emergencies effectively.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with community and mental health organizations.
- Budget and Resource Management:
- Oversee the budgeting process for student services and allocate resources effectively.
- Seeks additional grant funding to support comprehensive counseling services for the district.
- Works in partnership with the Director of College & Career Readiness to enact the College Matters grants awarded by the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation.
- Manage the procurement of materials and resources ensuring that they meet the needs of the districts programs.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in School Counseling Psychology Social Work or a related field required.
- Valid state certification or license in school counseling or state administrative license required.
- Significant experience in school counseling including experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
- Strong understanding of counseling theories practices and legal and ethical standards.
- Excellent communication organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and manage multiple priorities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform duties that may involve sitting standing or walking for extended periods.
- Ability to travel between schools within the district as needed.
Work Environment:
- Direct Report to the Assistant Superintendent for Exceptional Learners.
- Office environment with frequent visits to various schools within the district.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for meetings or special events.
