City Capital is currently working with a highly respected and fast-growing specialist property finance lender who have retained our services to appoint an ambitious and career-minded Loan Portfolio Assistant to their growing team at an exciting time.
Our client is backed by strong investment and large secured funding lines driving ambitious targets to double the size of their loan book in 2025. This growth will increase the number of loans and borrowers fuelling expansion of their loan management team and division.
Our client offers bridging finance development exit loans BTL and commercial mortgages to property developers and investors. Loans vary in size and structure with deals ranging from 100k to 100m.
As a Loan Portfolio Assistant you will work alongside a team of Portfolio Managers to ensure all funded loans reach a healthy redemption at the end of the loan term. This involves monitoring and reporting on loan performance and positions and making recommendations on areas requiring improvement or action. You will proactively identify and address early warning signs or opportunities.
Where issues or opportunities arise you will support solutions which may include arranging new loans assisting borrowers with product transfers planning redemption strategies and aiding with loan or asset recovery.

Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Monitoring the performance of loans within the portfolio
- Identifying warning signs or opportunities within the loan portfolio
- Ensuring loans comply with contractual agreements
- Reviewing and monitoring weekly reports for relevant actions
- Liaising with and supporting Portfolio Managers on complex tasks
- Reviewing contracts and audits with credit bureaus
- Devising and implementing strategies for loan redemptions
- Maintaining deal sheets for corporate borrowers or investors
The ideal candidate will have some current or prior experience in loan management or loan servicing ideally within the mortgage or property finance sector.
You will be a confident and clear communicator required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders such as senior management and borrowers.
Our clients loan management team is extremely busy and fast paced so this role will suit someone who thrives in such an environment and enjoys a diverse and wide-ranging set of responsibilities.
Most importantly you will be ambitious and eager to increase your knowledge and understanding of complex real estate lending. Full training and development will be provided to support your growth towards more senior roles.
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
- Demonstrated experience in loan servicing or portfolio management
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple loans and borrowers simultaneously
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Confident communicator internally and externally
- Proactive and quick to identify opportunities or problems
- Strong team player who enjoys collaboration within a broader portfolio team
- Ambitious and motivated to grow within the business
On Offer:
The basic salary for this role is between c. 35k - 50k depending on experience. Higher offers may be considered for exceptional talent.
The salary is complemented by access to two separate uncapped bonus structures significantly increasing annual earnings based on performance.
This role offers great opportunity to progress to Loan Portfolio Manager and Senior Loan Portfolio Manager positions where excellent performance is demonstrated.
