Job Description
This position produces machined parts by programming setting up and operating a computer
numerical control (CNC) lathe machine maintaining quality and safety standards keeping records
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Prepares and operates CNC lathe machine to perform required tasks
- Understands specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprintsmechanical drawings etc.
- Prepares and loads raw materials and parts on the machine
- Prepares test run to check if the machines produce output according to specifications
- Monitors the machines and makes any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
- Visually and mechanically Inspects finished products to determine if the process has beencompleted properly
- Checks and maintains machinery daily to ensure functionality
- Adheres to quality control procedures
- Mentors Apprentice and Level I Associates
- Performs other duties as assigned
- 2 years Experience
- Completion of CNC Lathe Machinist Level I qualifications
- Good understanding of GD&T
- Prepares basic Workholding
- With little or no assistance be able to run through an unproven program
- Make minor changes to a pre-programmed Mastercam file
- Use Mastercam or Solidworks to get dimensions for a limited dimension print
- Ability to do basic programming using Mastercam
- Ability to give machinist double check and metric double check
- Full understanding of cutter selection and speed and feeds
- Ability to bore and check close tolerance holes
- Good understanding of all CNC lathe equipment (able to operate any machine)
- Working knowledge of certified quality standards (AS9100 Rev D)
