Role description:
The project estimator will support multidisciplinary teams across infrastructure and building projects in Ontario reporting to the Lead Surveyor. This role involves managing cost estimates ensuring compliance with CIQS Rules of Measurement preparing estimates for labor materials and equipment and implementing risk escalation and contingency strategies. The position emphasizes quality accuracy and adherence to professional standards. Additionally the role focuses on enhancing estimating systems integrating market intelligence and overseeing cost planning to align projects with financial objectives. The project estimator will also assist the project lead with client and stakeholder relationship management by delivering reliable cost advice throughout all project stages.
Role accountabilities:
- Manage and prepare cost estimates for materials labor and equipment across the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with CIQS Rules of Measurement and professional standards such as CIQS and AACE.
- Implement risk escalation and contingency strategies based on project maturity.
- Enhance estimating systems databases and tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Integrate market intelligence historical data and cost modeling into pricing strategies.
- Oversee cost planning and control to align projects with financial objectives and constraints.
- Prepare and validate budgets recommending cost-saving measures and design alternatives.
- Assist with client and stakeholder relationship management providing reliable cost advice across project stages.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: 8 years in cost estimating/planning for civil transit infrastructure or building projects including design-build and procurement methods; 2 years in a Tier 1 consultancy or contractor in Ontario/Canada. Experience with Ontario public sector procurement frameworks (e.g. Infrastructure Ontario Metrolinx) is an asset.
- Education and Accreditation: University Degree in Quantity Surveying Engineering or related field with Chartered status in CIQS RICS or AACE.
- Construction Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction documents and the Canadian construction market including material costs labor rates and procurement practices.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Cost X or similar estimating software MS Office and Primavera (P6).
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with design consultants contractors and client representatives.

The salary range for this position is $89600 - $134400. The base salary represents Arcadis hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors such as location skills experience and qualification for the role.
