About the role

One Temporary Full-time opportunity up to 30 June 2027.

One Temporary Full-time opportunity up to 18 August 2026.

This position is primarily responsible for regulating public areas through the enforcement of various legislation Local Government policies and position is responsible for the investigation of and response to requests and complaints from the community and the education of members of the public in relation to environmental issues traffic and parking and Companion Animal matters. The successful applicant will be required to prepare and present briefs of evidence and to represent Council in the Local Court.

Rangers are required to work rostered overtime shifts; on average one weekend day every three weeks. Rangers work a 38-hour week covering a spread of hours from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm with a Rostered Day Off once a fortnight. Rangers are required to be on-call on a rotating roster with the current award allowance being paid.

Essential criteria

  • Rangers Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal communication negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven ability to work autonomously in a potentially volatile environment
  • Experience in the use of personal computers and related software packages
  • Sound knowledge of the Local Government Act and Regulations
  • Current Class C Driver Licence

Desirable criteria

  • The ability to prepare complex reports proposals submissions and issue Notices & Orders
  • Knowledge of court procedures brief preparation and the Evidence Act
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Companion Animals Act 1998 and the proven ability work with Companion Animals
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 andRegulations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Road Rules 2014 and the Roads Act 1993
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Public Spaces (Unattended Property) Act 2021
  • First Aid Certificate or the ability to obtain

Commencing salary:$83341.00 per annum plus 12% Superannuation.

Access to a Leaseback Vehicle is available with this position; however it is not a condition of employment.
