Position Summary:

Facilitate group TM practice sessions for fellow students in alignment with the MIU TM Centers schedule and protocols. This position plays a vital role in upholding the MIU TM Centers mission of providing accessible meditation opportunities to students and fostering a culture of peace and well-being within the universitycommunity.

Students this Position Appeals to:

This position is ideal for students in the Maharishi Vedic Science (MVS) program who are passionate about fostering a harmonious campus environment through regular group meditation. Students gain valuable experience in meditation facilitation and community leadership which can be applied to future endeavors in holistic wellness education and personal development fields. Additionally this role offers opportunities for personal growth and deepening ones understanding of consciousness-based education principles.

Experience Gained / Advantageous for the Student:

  • Hands-on experience in leading group meditation sessions and cultivating an atmosphere conducive to meditation.
  • Opportunity to deepen understanding and mastery of communicating Pranayama and TM techniques enhancing personal practice and teaching abilities.
  • Development of leadership skills through guiding and interacting with participants during meditation sessions.
  • Contribution to the cultivation of a vibrant and supportive meditation community on campus.



Job Responsibilities:

  1. Promptly arrive at the Patanjali Golden Dome by 2:55 PM to welcome students in the lobby and assist them to the designated shoe room.
  2. Record attendance by documenting the first and last names of participants and share attendance details through Outlook with Karen Aoki Kouider Director of the MIU TM Center ().
  3. Lead Pranayama exercises starting at 3:00 PM followed by TM sessions from 3:05 to 3:25 PM.
  4. Allow meditators to come out slowly ensuring a smooth transition post-meditation.
  5. Ensure all meditators exit the dome gradually and confirm that all participants have left before concluding the session.


Job Qualifications:

  • Must be a Maharishi Vedic Science (MVS) major.
  • Ability to punctuality and reliability attend meditation sessions at the Domes after class.
  • Proficiencyin Pranayama and Transcendental Meditation techniques with the ability to confidently lead andfacilitatethese practices for the student community.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills.

Supervisor: Karen Aoki-Kouider MVS Assistant Professor and Director of Student TM Center

After completing a masters degree in Maharishi Vedic Science at Maharishi International University Karen went to Mussoorie India to teach piano at the Woodstock School a boarding school in Northern 2016 Karen completed her doctoral degree in Maharishi Vedic Science at Maharishi International University where she also studied in Indian classical flute under classical flutist Binay Krishna Baral. Karen is now Assistant Professor of Maharishi Vedic Science and Sanskrit at Maharishi International University.
