Pre-Employment Background Investigation:

What Youll Do:
- Functions as Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mediator for the agency;
- Plans and coordinates dispute resolution procedure within the regional office;
- Develops dispute resolution policies (e.g. internal and external training; intervention policies that promote ADR) & programs to ensure compliance with civil rights laws (e.g. ORC 4112 and Title VII);
- Analyzes statutes decisions agency rules and regulations pertaining to the agencys mediation program.
- Mediates cases of discrimination (e.g. employment housing sexual harassment credit public accommodation);
- Reviews incoming discrimination case materials to reasonably direct conciliation & distributes relevant documents; acts as liaison with charging parties respondents & attorneys to facilitate communication between disputing parties;
- Makes recommendations to all parties concerning appropriate remedies to resolve mediations; explains the agencys ADR program and assists all parties with problem solving and negotiations;
- Prepares and distributes conciliation agreements
- Performs other related duties. Independently investigates charges of discrimination in other regional offices as needed (e.g. conducts initial intake interviews of charging parties conducts interviews of respondents & other witnesses conducts on-site investigations conducts fact finding conferences to attempt conflict resolution between parties). Prepares correspondence and reports (e.g. notification letters mediation summaries and reports) & updates case files. Responds to mediation inquiries. Conducts & participates in training conferences & seminars

Completion of undergraduate core coursework in labor relations/human resources organizational communication criminal justice business administration or related field; 1 yr. trg. or 1 yr. conducting mediations investigations &/or grievance resolutions; 1 course or 3 mos. mediation procedures & methods. -Or 3 yrs. trg. or 3 yrs. conducting mediations investigations &/or grievance resolutions; 1 course or 3 mos. mediation procedures & methods. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
