Job Description

The Opportunity

We re currently seeking a skilled Bitumen Tanker Maintenance Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to work with specialised equipment essential to road construction operations.

Youll be responsible for maintaining and repairing bitumen tankers ensuring they operate safely efficiently and in line with compliance standards. If you have a strong mechanical background and enjoy working in a fast-paced team-oriented environment this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

The Tasks Ahead

As a Bitumen Tanker Maintenance Technician your primary focus will be on ensuring the reliable and safe operation of bitumen tankers used in road construction and surfacing projects.

You ll be responsible for conducting routine inspections diagnosing mechanical faults and performing preventative maintenance on tank systems including burners pumps valves and hydraulic components.

A key part of the role will involve maintaining the integrity of heating systems that keep bitumen at optimal temperature during transport and unloading.

You ll also be expected to carry out welding and fabrication repairs monitor and calibrate temperature and pressure controls and ensure all work is completed in line with relevant safety environmental and transport compliance standards.

This role will require working both in workshop settings and occasionally on-site supporting operational readiness and minimising downtime.

About You

Mechanical and hydraulic system knowledge

Experience with burner systems and pipework

Welding and fabrication skills

Understanding of hazardous materials handling (especially hot bitumen)

Strong safety awareness and PPE compliance

Key Requirements

Routine maintenance of bitumen tanks and associated equipment (valves burners pumps hoses).

Inspecting and repairing heating systems such as diesel burners or LPG systems that keep bitumen at the correct temperature.

Servicing hydraulic systems used for loading/unloading bitumen.

Checking insulation and structural integrity of tanks to prevent heat loss or leaks.

Cleaning and flushing tanks to remove bitumen buildup or contamination.

Testing and calibrating gauges and sensors (temperature pressure level indicators).

Performing welding fabrication and mechanical repairs as required.

Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations especially due to the flammable and hazardous nature of bitumen.
