TheMortgage Openeris responsible for initiating the mortgage loan file once a loan application is submitted. This position plays a critical role in preparing loan files for processing by collecting reviewing and organizing all required initial documentation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities- Initial Loan Package Review.
- Review incoming credit packages and loan application files for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure all required documents are included per loan program guidelines (Non-QM Alternative Documentation Conventional FHA).
- Identify any missing or incomplete documentation.
- Confirm that all sections of the Uniform Residential Loan Application (URLA/1003) are properly completed.
- Validate borrower data including personal information loan purpose property details and employment history.
- Verify that the appropriate income documentation (e.g. pay stubs W-2s tax returns self-employment documentation) is present according to loan program requirements.
- Communicate professionally and proactively with mortgage brokers loan officers and processors to request and follow up on missing or incomplete items.
- Track and document communications regarding outstanding documentation.
- File Preparation for Underwriting.
- Organize and prepare complete loan files for submission to underwriting.
- Confirm that all required documents are uploaded into the loan origination system (LOS) in the correct format and order.
- Prioritize workload to meet internal deadlines and posted service level agreements (SLAs).
- Accurately update loan statuses and document receipt in LOS and/or tracking systems.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of loan file contents and communications.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelors degree preferred.
- 1 years of experience in mortgage banking or financial services preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook) and familiar with loan origination systems (e.g. Encompass Calyx etc.).
- Knowledge of mortgage loan documents and compliance guidelines a plus.
