Description

The Center for Student Engagement Inclusion and Belonging (CSEIB) Programming Team is a student-run group that serves as Illinois Colleges principal group for major student event planning and campus programming. The mission of the CSEIB Programming Team is to provide a diverse assortment of fun and safe events to entertain and engage students while fostering a sense of belonging on campus. The activities are supported and funded by the students of Illinois College and act in response to the needs and interests of the student body with a primary goal of fostering campus community and unity.

The Center for Student Engagement Inclusion and Belonging (CSEIB) Programming Team Interns (CSEIB - PTIs) have the opportunity to create plan and lead student events on campus. Programming Team Interns will gain valuable leadership experience communication and marketing skills event planning knowledge and improve critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. This is traditionally a paid student leader position but academic internship credits are available for interested students.

Compensation

  • Hourly pay as CSEIB student worker for at least 5 and up to 10 hours per week during the academic year. Hourly rate of pay for Programming Team Interns is $13.00 per hour.
  • Early return to campus each semester meals and housing provided and additional hourly pay available.

Qualifications

  • Must be interested in and willing to plan and execute events on campus for all IC students
  • Must be currently enrolled full-time (12 credits or more) and preferably be returning to IC for the full 2025-2026 academic year. If you will be graduating in December please make sure that is noted on your application.
  • Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Must be available to participate in ALL training sessions and planning retreats and willing to work collectively as part of a team
  • Must be willing to work evening and weekend hours as needed for events

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate large-scale all-campus events i.e. Welcome Week Homecoming Family & Friends Weekend Holiday Dinner January Welcome Back events Siblings Overnight and Block Party
  • Initiate and implement student activities geared to smaller or more specific audiences
  • Collaborate with student organizations and student success offices to create events that bring students together in community or provide fun educational opportunities
  • Sensibly and effectively use the budget provided by the Student Activity Fee to provide programming and experiences to students on campus. Practice budget compromise as the semesterly budget serves multiple events and initiatives rather than just one event
  • Arrive on time and consistently to agreed upon CSEIB office hours and utilize office hour time to work on programming team or CSEIB related duties.
  • Beyond your work in the CSEIB interns should expect to put in additional hours especially during the week or two prior to your events.
  • Attend weekly CSEIB Programming Team meetings and 1:1 meetings with professional staff supervisor
  • At events interns should expect to interact with involvement leaders guests and other people that attend events. This involves coordinating the event as its happening giving directions answering questions and getting to know the team as a whole.
  • Maintain a professional attitude when working with people inside or outside of the College and support the goals and objectives of the CSEIB Programming Team
  • Reflect upon experiences and job performance and complete evaluation/assessment tools to foster learning and leadership development

  • Interact and communicate with the CSEIB Staff programming team involvement leaders and other members of the Illinois College campus community in a respectful manner.
  • Follow Illinois College policies and expectations as outlined in the Blue Book (IC student handbook)
  • Refrain from the use of alcohol or other mood-altering substances prior to and during any CSEIB event
