Job Description

JOB TITLE:
Office Assistant 1 - Admissions and Registration

DEPARTMENT AND LOCATION OF JOB:
Admissions and Registration
ELIGIBILITY:

Students must be Work Study Eligible (as determined by Financial Aid)

START DATE:

This position will start Fall Semester 2025.



LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:

Academic Calendar Year 2025/2026


PAY RANGE:
$13.00 - $14.00 per hour depending on experience

WORK SCHEDULE:
Flexible schedule between Monday and Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; may work up to 19 hours per week.

DRESS CODE:
Casual wear with appropriate coverage

POSITION PURPOSE/ROLE:
Under minimal supervision provides support to the Admissions and Registration.

POSITION DUTIES:
  • Greets and welcomes students staff and visitors to the department and provides general information
  • Responsible for handling and safeguarding confidential information regarding students
  • Utilizes Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook and Google Docs to perform word processing data entry and send emails
  • Assists with scanning filing and records maintenance
  • Performs general office support functions and operates basic office equipment
  • Answers phones and routes calls or takes messages as appropriate
  • Assists students in accessing the Student Portal
  • May perform other like duties as requested
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current FVCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester and
  • Ability to ensure and maintain confidentiality and
  • Ability to perform basic word processing data entry and emailing tasks using Microsoft Word and Excel Google Docs and
  • Ability to operate office equipment and other technology and
  • Ability to provide quality customer service and interact in a pleasant and professional manner with students staff faculty and the public and
  • Ability to work independently with a minimal level of supervision as well as in a team environment and
  • Ability to problem-solve and be self-motivated and
  • Possess good organizational skills and attention to detail and
  • Ability to understand and follow directions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience working as an office receptionist or in a customer service role in a first point of contact position

STUDENT SKILL DEVELOPMENT:

Communication critical thinking effective reasoning planning technology professionalism customer service

PREDICTED OUTCOME:
Practical competence in office management and customer service experience effective communication critical thinking time management and prioritization collaboration technology professionalism
STUDENT EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES:
  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits for fall or spring semester to qualify for student employment.
  • Students may not work beyond 19 hours per week during semester.
  • Student workers shall be actively engaged; no use of cell phones (except in case of emergency) or social media.
  • Student workers shall demonstrate a commitment to the job with adherence to work schedule effective communication/interpersonal skills and quality customer service skills to be a representative of FVCC.
