Job Description
IAT Insurance Group has an immediate opening for a skilled and motivated Senior Underwriter within the Commercial Truck Team to support our non-fleet segment (10 or fewer power units). The ideal candidate will have a competitive drive bring at least five years of for-hire motor carrier multi-line underwriting experience and have a strong foundation in risk assessment and agency marketing.
The title and the salary associated with any offer will reflect the selected candidates experience and knowledge. We will consider candidates with significantly more or slightly less experience.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate assess price and recommend handling of accounts beyond the agents granted authority and if necessary present the account in collaboration to obtain for a specific account.
- Manage evaluate analyze and assess a book of new and renewal business in a fast-paced environment making recommendations as to pricing acceptability coverage considerations cancellations non-renewals etc. to maximize profitability. This involves interpreting trending and developing loss information from prior carriers analyzing financial information and preparing governmental and industry reports specifically for each account.
- Travel as needed to work with assigned agents to evaluate submission flow evaluate account acceptability and assure the overall profitability of each assigned agent or wholesaler.
- Calls corresponds and meets with the assigned agency partners in a manner that maintains open communication for holistic agency management.
- Provides outstanding customer service.
- Builds effective working relationships with assigned agency personnel as well as internal company staff.
- Drives acceptable levels of new business opportunities through effective marketing to assigned agents.
- Effectively communicates with assigned agents the appropriate level of information to ensure understanding of company direction.
- Perform other tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Must Have:
- Bachelors degree and atleast five years of experience in commercial Insurance.
- Equivalent is defined as nine years of relevant experience.
- Experience with marketing and managing agents in a given territory.
- Knowledge of the transportation/Class 8 trucking insurance Industry.
- Must possess the ability to creatively utilize coverage features deductibles or reinsurance on individual risks to achieve company objectives.
- Requires strong math aptitude excellent verbal and written communication interpersonal and negotiating skills.
- Must possess knowledge of various computer programs internet-based programs PC literate and working with spreadsheets.
- To qualify applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship now or in the future for employment purposes.
- CPCU ARM or AU industry designations.
- INS21 22 and 23 or equivalent.
