San Francisco University High School (UHS) is looking for an enthusiastic dedicated and passionate Assistant Coach to join our Junior Varsity and Frosh-Soph Girls Volleyball teams. About San Francisco University High School

UHS is a coeducational independent day school in San Francisco located in the vibrant Pacific Heights neighborhood. We serve 514 students in grades 9-12. Founded in 1975 our mission is to challenge each individual to live a life of integrity inquiry and purpose larger than the self.


The Opportunity

Were seeking energetic and dedicated Assistant Coaches for our Junior Varsity and Frosh-Soph Girls Volleyball teams. These part-time seasonal roles are perfect for individuals who love teaching the game mentoring student-athletes and supporting a positive team-first culture.


As an Assistant Coach youll work directly with the JV or Frosh-Soph Head Coach playing a key role in developing players across various skill levels. Youll reinforce core values like respect accountability and sportsmanship. Were looking for candidates who bring enthusiasm patience and a growth mindsetboth on and off the court. These roles are central to helping student-athletes build confidence refine their skills and cultivate a lifelong love for volleyball.

Requirements

What Youll Do

  • Practice & Match Support: Assist in the planning and execution of daily practices and match-day responsibilities.
  • Culture Building: Support the Head Coach in fostering a team environment centered on effort continuous improvement and mutual respect.
  • Skill Instruction: Help lead warm-ups deliver effective skill development drills and facilitate engaging game simulations during practice.
  • Athlete Feedback: Provide positive constructive feedback and encouragement to student-athletes during matches and throughout the season.
  • Safe Environment: Reinforce team standards and support a physically and emotionally safe inclusive athletic environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the JV or Frosh-Soph Head Coach and the Athletic Department to meet team needs.
  • Compliance: Uphold University High School Bay Counties LeagueWest and North Coast Section guidelines and expectations.
  • Student Supervision: Maintain appropriate supervision of athletes before during and after practices and matches.
  • Communication Aid: Assist in communication with athletes and families as appropriate under the guidance of the Head Coach.

Who You Are

  • Experienced in Volleyball: You have prior playing and/or coaching experience at the youth club high school or collegiate level.
  • Fundamental Knowledge: You possess strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals strategies and competitive play.
  • Positive Communicator: You can communicate clearly positively and constructively with young athletes.
  • Active Coach: Youre able to demonstrate drills and actively participate in practice activities when necessary.
  • Organized & Proactive: You have strong organizational skills and a willingness to take initiative.
  • Certified (or Ready To Be): You hold or are willing to obtain current CPR and First Aid certifications prior to the season.

Compensation

This is a seasonal part-time position with a compensation range of $5000 $8000 commensurate with experience and team assignment.
