Job Description:
Job Summary: This position supports new design and modifications of aircraft structures and/or systems and is responsible for the creation of quality solutions on time from a Design point of view. Duties include performing design efforts for both metallic and non-metallic parts along with system installations (electrical hydraulic fuel) while working in close collaboration with static stress and fatigue colleagues. Methods include the use of multiple applications to develop efficient solutions to satisfy design and/or system installation principles.
Primary Responsibilities:
Technical Solutions: 95%
Autonomously perform moderate to complex levels of design solution development. Team assignments may include detailed part design layout maturation trade study analysis weight reduction efforts certification activity or in-service support.
Create or modify technical documents such as: Design Datasets Product Structures etc. within various Airbus computer based applications/toolsets (SAP CATIA VPMetc.). with high quality and efficiency.
Liaise with Static Stress F&DT and other appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum design solutions.
Accept broad objectives with agreed deadlines and establish the tasks required and how they should be completed. Works independently.
Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
Ability to obtain Authorizer Technical Signatory. Has obtained and utilizes Approver Signatory effectively.
Guides and/or leads the successful completion of projects and execute activities to achieve customer requirements.

Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process methods and tools improvements.
Qualified Experience and Training:
Education:
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero Civil Mechanical Electrical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis mechanics of materials and/or system design.
Preferred
A Minor in Computer Science
Masters Degree in an Engineering discipline
Experience:
Minimum of nine (9) total design experience in airframe structures and/or system installation projects.
Preferred
Experience in metallic/composite airframe structure and/or system installation of electrical harnesses fuel lines hydraulic systems.

Position requires in-depth knowledge of technical principles of design theories and concepts. Applied knowledge of design documentation techniques and procedures.

Onsite or remote: Onsite a minimum of 60% of the time at the Wichita Engineering office.
Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens able to read documents reports and engineering drawings; daily.
Hearing: able to hear in order to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear safety warnings or alarms; daily.
Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings deliver information and participate in communications; daily
Equipment Operation (personal computer telephone copies fax machine and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment; daily.
Carrying: able to carry documents tools drawings electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs; once a month.
Lifting: able to lift documents tools drawings electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs; once a month.
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools; once a month.
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings working on the computer; daily.
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes but is not limited to Safety Shoes Safety Glasses Hearing Protection Respirators/Masks and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visit appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
