Job Summary
Newberry Group seeks a mid-level Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) for a potential contract to begin in the next sixty positions are responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for DOD IT systems.

Colorado Springs CO
Hybrid position
Clearance/Certifications
DoD Secret Clearance required
Current DOD 8140 level II certification required such as: CISM or CISSO or FITSP-M or GCIA or GCSA or GCIH or GSLC or GICSP or CISSP-ISSMP or CISSP
Contingencies
Contingent on Contract Award
Verification of Active Clearance and Certification
Primary Responsibilities:
The Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) acts as the technical subject matter expert and shall specialize in accessing designing and architecting the security architecture of the customers information systems to meet or exceed required security requirements. The ISSE is responsible for capturing and refining IT system requirements and ensuring integration of those requirements into information systems.

Primary Responsibilities:
The Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) acts as the technical subject matter expert and shall specialize in accessing designing and architecting the security architecture of the customers information systems to meet or exceed required security requirements. The ISSE is responsible for capturing and refining IT system requirements and ensuring integration of those requirements into information systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists in the development and implementation of cybersecurity architectures for classified and unclassified systems.
- Collaborate with system owners developers and ISSOs to ensure secure system configurations and continuous monitoring. Serve as the cybersecurity subject matter expert (SME) for accreditation and continuous monitoring processes.
- Ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-53 DoDI 8500.01 and other relevant cybersecurity frameworks.
- Provide technical guidance on cybersecurity best practices and emerging threats.
- Interface with cybersecurity authorities including the Authorizing Official (AO) and Security Control Assessor (SCA).
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity Information Technology Computer Science or related field.
- U.S. Citizenshipand ability to obtain and maintain aSecret security clearance.
- At least 3 years of experiencein information assurance or cybersecurity roles.
- DoD 8140 level II certification
- Strong knowledge of RMF NIST SP 800-53 and DoD cybersecurity policies.
- Experience with security tools such as ACAS HBSS and eMASS is preferred.
- Excellent communication documentation and analytical skills.
- Prior experience working in a DoD or military academic environment.
- Familiarity with cloud security (AWS GovCloud Azure Government).
- Familiarity with Air Force cybersecurity processes and tools.
- Knowledge of classified and unclassified system environments.
