Description


The Facility Services Department is seeking two Security Supervisors who will be responsible for the supervision of security operations. These positions will directly supervise assigned security staff respond to incidents and address the needs of both internal and external customers.

Location and hours:
These positions are located at various Hennepin County facilities. Candidates must have reliable transportation and the ability to work at various locations. Typical work hours will be Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. 10 p.m. with occasional evenings weekends and/or holidays to accommodate the needs of the team.These positions will be on call approximately 10 weeks out of the year.

In these positions you will:
  • Supervise security personnel coordinate and conduct security related training review and evaluate employee performance maintain work schedules and direct action/response of assigned personnel.
  • Supervise security projects including technology enhancements and security standards.
  • Assess plan revise and implement security-related procedures rules and regulations for assigned facilities.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring unit budget.
  • Gather preliminary information regarding building and property security issues.
  • Develop and maintain security plans for county departments and/or facilities to establish a safe environment for staff clients and visitors.
  • Develop and maintain security and life safety through education and awareness programs including Critical Incident Management Team.
  • Represent the division on department and county-wide committees and work groups.
  • Monitor security contracts specific to assignment specialization.
  • Write and monitor security contracts specific to assignment specialization.
  • Serve as a liaison to other county departments and outside agencies regarding safety and security issues.
  • Ensure compliance with federal state and local agency security regulations and statutes.
  • Maintain communication with security team.
  • Patrol buildings with security officers and conduct site checks including shift coverage as needed.
Need to have:
Nice to have:
  • A Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT) and Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification.
  • Experience:
    • Working in a supervisory position.
    • Performing supervisory functions such as training evaluating performance of security personnel scheduling work assignments and enforcing security practices and procedures.
    • Using Microsoft Office (Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint OneNote and Teams) Incident Reporting Systems Video Management Systems and related security technologies as an expert end user.
  • Knowledge of security and safety guidelines and of laws and regulations that affect security policies procedures and operations.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities in a business setting.
  • Ability to:
    • Respond to security service delivery needs using a proactive customer focused and solutions-oriented approach.
    • Act as a liaison with law enforcement safety and security agencies building occupants departments and visitors.
    • Evaluate and solve complex problems.
    • Engage in complex time-sensitive planning.
    • Interact with multiple stakeholders and build consensus on best practices.

The Hennepin County Facility Services Department provides a full range of facility services for county programs and services. The department:
  • Identifies capital needs responds to and supports capital projects identified by line departments
  • Develops and manages projects to construct new buildings refurbish existing buildings and maintain infrastructure
  • Operates and maintains buildings
