Job Title: Head of Conveyancing Department
Location: Romford Essex
Salary: Competitive dependent on experience

Their conveyancing department currently handles 80100 live matters per month supported by a highly capable office team of 14. The Role

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Conveyancing Solicitor (7-10 years PQE) to take on the role of Head of Conveyancing. This is a key leadership position for someone ready to step up and drive the strategic direction compliance and operational excellence of a busy growing residential property department.

The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day running of the team manage a personal caseload implement best practices and play a vital role in expanding the departments capabilities and reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the residential conveyancing department ensuring smooth operation of workflows and high service standards

  • Supervise and support junior solicitors paralegals and administrative staff within the team

  • Oversee a diverse range of residential property transactions including freehold leasehold new builds remortgages and transfers of equity

  • Manage your own caseload while balancing leadership duties

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with CQS standards regulatory requirements and internal policies

  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and client experience through AI tools and legal tech platforms

  • Liaise with senior management on strategic planning recruitment performance metrics and business development

  • Contribute to maintaining and strengthening relationships with estate agents brokers and panel lenders

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 7-10 years PQE in Residential Conveyancing

  • Proven experience managing a full residential conveyancing caseload independently

  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of compliance risk management and CQS requirements

  • Tech-savvy with an interest in innovation and process improvement

  • Excellent communication leadership and mentoring skills

  • Highly organised commercially aware and client-focused
