What we are looking for:

A Field Service Technician (Central Region Ontario) Mechanical is responsible for providing repair and installation services on Heidelberg equipment located at the customers business. The tech is required to have a solid understanding of mechanical systems and components as well as a fundamental understanding of the tools and processes required to complete system maintenance and repair activities.

Field Service Technicians are responsible for delivering high quality service and customer satisfaction as well as working well with the team and providing support/coverage as per business needs.

While the technical aptitude of our technicians is vital customer service is the cornerstone of our business. As a Heidelberg technician you will be expected to deliver personalized consistent proactive and competent support to our customers.

Primary Duties are as follows:

  • Troubleshoot repair conduct maintenance & train on sheetfed equipment.
  • Troubleshoot repair conduct maintenance & train on sheetfed equipment under service contract/warranty.
  • Work with assigned qualified riggers to install new or used equipment that are sales generated. This also applies to the customer requests regarding equipment moves. This includes installation work orders and charge service.
  • Work with the installation team to install and commission new equipment.
  • Use product knowledge to communicate clearly verbally and written both internally and externally
  • When Visiting customers show our customers the value added by choosing Heidelberg service to generate additional business.
  • Regular attendance and timeliness are expected. There may be times that overtime or weekend work will be critical functions of the job.
  • Complete all paperwork in a timely manner (i.e. expenses time sheets escalation reports online training courses car maintenance.)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 - 5 years experience servicing and installing printing presses
  • Print industry background is required
  • Mechanical Technician/Technologist diploma
  • Experience working in an engineering services environment is an asset
  • Eligible to work in Canada with a Candian work permit.
  • A clear Drivers License

Skills Required

  • Excellent Mechanical skills to repair complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical problems. Be able to provide clear and concise reports relating to technical clarification topics.
  • Excellent customer relationship skills
  • Know and understand how test equipment works. Knows when where and how to use it. Following Knowledge and skills an advantage:
    • Volt/ohm/amp meter (multimeter) Current probe Multimeter Thorough understanding of AC & DC circuits
  • Knowledge of servos and related controllers including hydraulic and pneumatic temperature controls.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers with Microsoft operating systems and customer account service systems such as
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs twist duck carry and push equipment and parts.

Travel: This position requires travel to customers sites across Central Ontario but not limited to this area the position includes a company vehicle. When traveling outside of this geographical area all airfare hotels and per diem are supplied.
