You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Mechanical Test Technician is responsible for preparing conducting and documenting mechanical tests on materials components and assemblies to verify performance and compliance with customer work specifications. This role supports product development quality assurance and research by providing accurate test data and analysis.
Salary: $24- $28/hour (Depending on Experience)
Set up calibrate and operate a variety of mechanical test equipment (tensile compression fatigue impact hardness vibration).
Prepare test samples and fixtures according to engineering drawings and test standards.
Perform destructive testing in accordance with procedures and safety requirements.
Collect analyze and record test results in laboratory information systems and prepare test reports.
Identify and troubleshoot anomalies during testing and communicate findings to engineering or quality teams.
Maintain testing equipment perform routine checks and coordinate calibration as needed.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending enhancements to test methods and equipment.
Ensure compliance with company industry and safety standards (ASTM ISO ASME etc.).
High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associates degree in Mechanical Technology Materials Science or related field preferred.
Basic understanding of mechanical principles (force stress strain materials behavior).
Hands-on experience with hand tools shop equipment or lab work (school internship or work experience).
Ability to follow detailed procedures and safety protocols.
Comfortable using computers for data entry and basic software (Excel Word).
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Work Environment:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Standing and moving between workstations for extended periods.
Laboratory and test facility setting.
Standard work schedule with occasional overtime depending on project needs.
On-the-job training and mentorship provided.
