Job Description
Position: Kindergarten Special Education Teaching Assistant
Job Goals:
To support a Kindergarten classroom by assisting the teacher with classroom responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree Required; Bachelors Degree Preferred
- Must have experience and demonstrated ability to support young children
- Must have experience and demonstrated ability to implement teacher-developed instructional modifications and activities
- Must be able to coordinate with and work as a member of a team that includes special and general educators other building staff related service personnel clinicians and parents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with classroom management
- Establishes emotionally supportive rapport with students
- Ensures information is shared between teachers when assistant is primary support person or other organizational meetings as well as professional development as determined by principal
- Assists Classroom teacher with implementation of curriculum.
- Performs other related duties as delineated by teacher or other supervisor
- May supervise drop off dismissal lunch and recess.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 183 Days. 6.75-7.00 hours per day
REPORTS TO: Special Education Coordinators and Building Principals
SALARY/BENEFITS: Per AEA Unit D Collective Bargaining Agreement. Eligible for benefits including health insurance dental insurance and life insurance and Town of Arlington Retirement System.
