Primary Purpose of Position:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide responsible and skilled supervision in directing all day-to-day facets of the Admissions operations and the Ships Store following Directives as set by the Director of Sales. Sales Supervisor provides contact interaction and problem resolutions to ticket buying customers and special admissions and groups. Responsible for the day-to-day operation of Ships Store and Admissions including personnel management cash management customer service and any other requirements which may impact on the Ships Store and Admissions operation.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Duty Supervisor Serves as the supervisor responsible for directing and organizing staff of sales personnel engaged in selling displaying and stocking general merchandise and books. Dependability and responsibility are key as a sales supervisor must be present to operate the business. This position will supervise sales personnel engaged in processing Admissions and Friends of the Battleship Commission. Serves as liaison with other work units in the resolution of day-to-day administrative and operational problems. Ensures that sales areas are operating in a professional manner by ensuring cashiers follow the Ships Store Work Rules. Report any violations to Director of Retail Sales.
Point of Sales Skills Open closes and operates Counterpoint point-of-sale (POS) terminal; approves and inputs overrides when appropriate. Maintains compliance with Eagle procedures. Greet and serve customers. Balances registers and create daily sales reports as needed. Maintains a clean and orderly sales area. Responds to inquiries and research and resolves problems related to transactions handled by cashiers. Maintains knowledge of current promotions discounts and policies regarding payment and exchanges. Demonstrates knowledge of the policies rules and regulations applicable to Ships Store operations and sales sufficient to interpret the policies and procedures in unique situations. Sales returns and exchanges and phone orders are processed correctly using the Counterpoint System or manual sales procedure. Perform cashier duties when required in the Ships store.
Customer Service and Public Contact Greet visitors answer questions regarding amenities rentals programs operating hours memberships and exhibits with patience tact and courtesy. Refer inquiries to other departments where appropriate. Communicate regarding issues that require significant judgment or interpretation negotiating and resolving conflicts. Explain policies rules and regulations with tact and courtesy. Resolve problems by clarifying complaints determining the cause of the problem and advising the best solution. Completes records as needed. Interact with co-workers supervisors officials and visitors. Provide assistance relays information and coordinates work. Interactions with visitors and co-workers occur in a consistently professional manner. Maintains an effective positive customer service environment. Use effective problem-solving skills to handle problems that arise. Report problems to the Director of Retail sales if needed.
Position/Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work 40 hours per week 5 days a week.
Must be able to work schedule that includes holiday and weekend work where the hours per day and day per week can vary due to seasonal scheduling or special events.

Section/Unit Description:
The Sales Department is the revenue producing visitor/customer/guest relations element of the Battleship. These operations include admissions retail sales and group and program check-ins and onsite Battleship Steel Store purchases. The Sales Department oversees the operations of authorized concessionaires. The Department serves more than 200000 visitors annually and produces and collects the major portion of operating funds for the Battleship.
Division Description:
The USS NORTH CAROLINA Battleship Memorial is the States memorial to over 11000 North Carolinians who died in service in WWII as well as a top tourist destination and center of education. The Memorial operates as an enterprise of the state and receives no appropriations to operate.
